Aurora Canero
Spanish, born 1940

Using the lost-wax casting method, metal sculptor Aurora Canero has worked in bronze for over 30 years. Her nude and hairless figures stand, lie, or sit atop overscaled pedestals, ladders, hoops, diving boards, and abstract monolithic shapes, often frozen in moments of tension. Placed in precariously balanced positions or alongside animals, they handle miscellaneous objects, while their poses communicate narratives and gestures. These isolated figures suggest psychological states, offering extended meditations on the human spirit.
