Biography

A student of Bernd and Hilla Becher, Bernhard Fuchs creates photographic typologies of decaying farms, isolated automobiles along the roadside or in parking lots, and lonely roads and pathways. Explaining his “Auto” series, Fuchs wrote: “On my bicycle tours, time and again, I saw passenger cars, buses and trucks that just stood around[…]. Cars in the landscape had an impact on me, similar to [that] of actors on a stage, and I began to collect their wit and their tragedy.”
