Beth O'Donnell
American
Beth O’Donnell is both a photographer and painter, often combining the two mediums. She enjoys shooting florals with a macro lens, creating almost abstract portraits of flowers with a powerful, up-close impact. She also has body of work that melds photography with encaustic wax. Recently she began using pigmented oil sticks to add texture to an array of papers and panels, creating ethereal geometric forms and abstract landscapes.
O’Donnell was born in Evanston, Illinois, studied photography at the Evanston Art Center and at The International Center for Photography in New York City. In 2002, she spent 20 months in the slums of Nairobi, Kenya, doing photojournalistic work that was published in The London Daily Telegraph and Marie Claire. Her photographs have been auctioned at several major philanthropic events around the United States.
