Blake Daniels
American, b. 1990
Blake Daniels lives and works between New York and Johannesburg. Drawing inspiration from traditions of storytelling, queer cultural practices, art history and personal memories; Daniels paintings create dreamlike and expressive compositions which examine the private interior and socio-political conditions under which we establish, form and adapt our identities. They are the recipient of the Rema Hort Mann Foundation Emerging Artist Grant and received a Master’s in Fine Arts from The University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg (2017). Solo exhibitions include Matthew Brown (Los Angeles), Galerie Julien Cadet (Paris) and ROOM (Johannesburg). Selected group shows are at The Green Family Art Foundation (Dallas), blank projects (Cape Town), BEERS London (London) and Over The Influence (Hong Kong).
