Biography

Brent Green is a narrative filmmaker who constructs his works by moving images and objects frame by frame. In his early 20s, Green was an aspiring writer-musician, and learned to draw cartoons so that he could create visual animations to accompany his music. He says, that art “was a hobby—and therapy. I was trying to write things that I wanted to hear people say.” Green, who identifies with his own protagonists, creates stories that are based on realities, but idiosyncratic eccentricities. In screening his work, Green has been known to provide live narration and musical accompaniment, written and performed by him and rotating members of other indie-rock groups. More recently, Green has been creating increasingly ambitious installations around his films that incorporate his props and sets.
