Camille Blin is known for his playful, conceptual approach to product and furniture design. During his education at the ECAL/University of Art and Design in Lausanne, Switzerland, Blin was awarded an internship at Boym Design Studio in New York City; upon graduation, he began to exhibit internationally. Blin often reinterprets the traditional shape of an object, such as his “Gradient lamps”, where an integral but typically hidden element of the form—the light dimmer—is reborn as a key component of the design. His result is a product that he says favors industrially manufactured design over aesthetic whims. Whether alone or in conjunction with his co-founded furniture design company, A C E, Blin is known for his poetic interpretation of objects, whether in his ash wood coat rack, castle-shaped wine bottles, wooden office products, or laser-cut magnetic eyeglasses.
