Cheng Liang

Artist Cheng Liang's unique painting style is derived from the visual experiences of pixelated games from childhood and the sensory perception of daily motorcycle rides. Cheng Liang uses speed as a point of entry to explore the desires, violence, and other hidden aspects of the true self that emerge under the uncertainty of high velocity. Simultaneously, speed is not only a description of movement but also a hallmark of the current digital era. The garbled-like images serve as a metaphor for the loss of control and the obliteration of contemplation in a high-speed society. They also suggest the detachment between individuals in the real world and imply the compression of space.
