Inspired by renowned landscape photographer Ansel Adams, Chip Hooper takes sublime photographs of the world’s oceans and seas, seeking to capture both the vistas before him and their emotional resonance. For Hooper, taking a photograph is a contemplative process, as he explains: “The best images always happen when what I am feeling becomes one with what I am seeing.” Working in series, he creates elegant black-and-white portraits of the seascapes he visits around the world, celebrating their majesty while attempting to convey their profoundly moving effect upon him.
