Incorporating both sculpture and painting into his work, Christopher Leroux navigates seemingly contradictory visuals terrains. Using crumpled and bent sheets of aluminum, which serve as a surface for his mixed-media painting, Leroux alludes to the industrial and urban. His imagery consists of an unlikely combination of undulating, expressionistic lines, sumptuously rippling metal, and stenciled text, numerals, and graphics that might evoke propagandistic graffiti markings. By juxtaposing a more painterly style with rote street-art insignias, the work creates an unexpected dialogue between divergent aesthetic approaches.
