Biography

Using a host of re-purposed items, Clément Rodzielski creates works that examine how an ordinary object such as a mass-produced playing card is a singular item in itself. Rodzielski applies paint to materials ranging from stacks of printer paper to magazine covers to alter each material’s subjectivity or trace its movement. For Untitled (Elena et les Hommes) (2010) Rodzielski spray painted the back of a vintage film poster, highlighting the creases that reveal its history as a well-traveled object.
