Daniel Verbis
Spanish, b. 1968
Since his very beginnings in the 90s the work of Daniel Verbis has thoroughly questioned the foundations of painting, both theoretically and practically. His work is indeed an on-going formal investigation through which the artist painstakingly deconstructs the medium and experiments with new pictorial formulas. Daniel Verbis’ visual vocabulary is intense and dynamic with a profusion of forms and compositions coexisting on a single flat surface. His approach to painting requires of a paused observation in order to take in the conceptual rigour and the formal innovation embedded in it. Daniel Verbis multidisciplinary artistic practice also includes sculpture, drawing, etching and collage to which he also applies the same deconstructive and experimental methodology.
