Danny Rolph

British artist Danny Rolph works across different media such as painting, mixed installations, and silkscreen printings. Once he told that when he was at secondary school, his teacher encouraged him 'to think with his hands'. From the dynamism of cities like London, New York, and Rome to the deserts of West Texas and New Mexico, all this contributes to Rolph's multi-layered, abstract, colorful body of works. The choice of colors is always instinctive but certainly affected by an inclination for absorption toward the environment we live in. Music and LP sleeves mainly from the '70s and '80s, but also philosophy, poetry and art history (from Tiepolo to Agnes Martin) are authentic sources of inspiration for Rolph’s work.
