Biography

David Richardson’s abstract painting style is characterized by a limited palette and large geometric forms, which reflect his admiration for Richard Diebenkorn, Adolph Gottlieb, and Robert Motherwell. The painter is also an active colonel in the U.S. Marines: he created his “R Series” in South Korea while on a tour of duty, painting vaguely military-inspired symbols on small canvases that he later assembled into larger compositions. He has said, “I want to create something beautiful. To me, there are enough disturbing and ironic things in life.”
