Douglas White culls the detritus of society and compulsively churns it into uncanny, monumental sculptures. Driven by a fascination with discarded and overlooked materials and "finding something magical within the everyday and revealing it through an action an impulse," White's intuition-based practice incorporates things like exploded tires, ruined recycling bins, and decaying trees. He often subjects his materials to violent transformations, revealing inner or unexpected surfaces, structures, aesthetics, and fragility.
