After his first artistic recognition as a painter, Eelco Brand turned to digital art in the early 1990s, when he discovered the computer as a tool for expanding his vision to include sound and movement to his work.
Eelco Brand sees a major drive in artists to imitate nature and create ideals of it. He cites these imitations and creations in an ironical way and creates both absurd and surreal objects from it. Brand uses computer technology to improve nature. His paintings and films are both irritating and amusing.
He uses the computer to create surreal paintings and 3-D animations, which seem so real that only on second sight do they get exposed as fiction.
