Eemyun Kang is known for her fluid, lush paintings of nature and the process of morphology. Her works occupy the space between the conscious and unconscious, reality and myth, and abstraction and figuration. This state of perpetual metamorphosis parallels Kang’s own experiences. Born in Korea but educated in England, Kang reflects her cultural displacement in the hybridity of her art. She imagines her works as narratives and is inspired by mythology, folklore, and mycology, yet her paintings defy linear storytelling, instead imagining time as circular.
