Elizabeth Geiger
American
Elizabeth Geiger received her BA in Painting and Mathematics from the University of Virginia in 1990 and continued her art studies at the New York Studio School and the Vermont Studio Center. She is well-known for her dramatic still life paintings in which she imbues historical influences into thoughtfully arranged compositions. “The still life has become predominant for me because of the freedom it gives me to choose, arrange and edit a setup,” She says. “Or as a friend of mine puts it—I am the writer, producer and director of my own opera.”
Geiger has been the focus of numerous solo and group exhibitions throughout the eastern United States. She also received a professional fellowship in 2007 from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Geiger’s artwork is part of several esteemed private and public collections.
The artist lives in Virginia.
