Elmar Krop
Dutch, b. 1981
On the brink of starting a career as an international banker, Elmar Krop (Amsterdam,
1981) decided to follow his heart and pursue a career in the creative industry. Turning
his life upside down, he started working as an assistant for a photographer he met via
via and soon he discovered that holding a camera was what made him truly happy. This
spontaneous and adventurous spirit shines through in his work which centers around
finding the balance between urbanization and nature. Instead of photographing models
in front of a backdrop or scene, he places them within their environment, making them
an integral part of the world around them. His images are vivid, powerful and typically
shot on the go. His sense of wonder and movement is inspiring: there is something about
his work that makes you want to go out and explore.
