Eric Leleu

Coming from a 8th-generation farming family from the North of France, Eric Leleu (born 1979) studied economics and social sciences.
At 25, he settled down as a photographer in China (Shanghai) with the help of two grants from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and another from Paris city council.
Since then he has been working for international and chinese magazines (The Guardian, Le Monde magazine, Die Zeit, New York Times, Newsweek, iLook, the Bund) has been developing his own work dealing conceptually with documentary topics about China, its place and its perception in the world.
His works have been shown at festivals in Asia (China, Burma, Cambodia) and Europe (France, England, Lithuania).
In 2009, he organized his first solo exhibition with his series 'Decisive moments' at ART LABOR Gallery in Shanghai and won the same year the contest PHOTO magazine.
In 2010, he was the official photographer for the French Pavilion for the Shanghai World Expo, he exhibited his series 'Day Dreamers' to the gates of the Cathedral of Beauvais during the festival Photaumnales and plans in the street in the program antennas Encounters of Photography in Arles.
In 2012 he was a finalist of the 2nd edition of Nights Photo (Paris).
In 2013, his work was shown at the festival Boutographies Montpellier, Kaunas in Lithuania. He exhibited for the first time in a museum (Yan Huang, Beijing). The international press became interested in his work : The Guardian (England), Wired (USA), Esquire (Russia) and Globo (Brazil).
In 2014, he holds his second solo show at ART LABOR Gallery (Shanghai).
