Fedele Spadafora
American
Fedele Spadafora is an artist living in New York City. His paintings bring a modern sensibility to his classical training and have been featured in many solo and group exhibitions in the US and abroad, mostly in New York. By combining a time-honored painterly tradition that may be at times painstaking with the spontaneity of direct expression, the Brooklyn-based painter has transcended the figurative genre and at times entered into the realm of abstraction. Set in atmospheric landscapes rendered over many paint layers on canvas, linen, or wood, Spadafora’s paintings implore the viewer to challenge what can be considered an ordinary conception of beauty with his unique sense of haunting realism. Whether on the subject of nature or cityscape, Spadafora focuses his attention on the odd and personal with results that reveal incredible depth in both medium and content.
Spadafora’s arts activities have been reviewed or featured in a number of publications in the United States and abroad, including The New York Times, The Huffington Post, The New Criterion, Arte Fuse, Fine Art Connoisseur, The L Magazine, Art.es, and Arts in Bushwick. Spadafora’s work is held in public and private collections in the US, Europe and North Africa including the Madison Museum of Fine Art.
