Frank Nitsche

Finding origins in Constructivism, Frank Nitsche paints unidentifiable-yet-evocative geometries made of overlapping angles, vectors, and shapes in a manner reminiscent of three-dimensional modeling software and imaginary urban architecture. Upon closer scrutiny, his paintings reveal erasures—areas that have been sanded down to reveal underlying layers and create discontinuous lines. Nitsche’s slowly worked canvases and use of oil paints—with their soft, saturated tones—create a striking contrast with the aerodynamic, futuristic forms his compositions reference.
