Franklin Delano Pengel
Surinamese, b. 1961
Franklin Delano Pengel is an artist with a mission, motivated to express his vision of the world, based on a great ideologically and socially motivated commitment. He is a storyteller, or better yet, a visionary, who uses his art for an ambitious goal. Since 2010 he started creating a new series of works, political social paintings, from a deep-seated critical awareness: ‘everything we think we know is false, that school system serves a purpose, that banking system serves a purpose, all to make a small group of wealthy people richer. . . . One day all men who believe in any form of human government will experience that bitter truth that they are slaves, and possess nothing, beware, these truths I now paint.’
