Hans-Christian Schink
German, b. 1961
Hans-Christian Schink (* 1961, Erfurt, Germany), studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Leipzig. His works, mostly landscape photographs investigating the relationship of nature and civilization, are exhibited internationally and can be found in important collections both public and private. “Hans-Christian Schink photographs landscapes. Not the proverbial post card and calendar perspective on nature, but special landscapes at the intersection of human ambitions and their natural requirements. It is this human interest that first constitutes “landscape” by figuratively setting it apart from the surrounding land, in a sense demarcating it from the background.”, wrote Kai Uwe Schierz in his text „Lost Proximity”, on the occasion of the publication of „LA” in 2004. Hans-Christian Schink lives and works in Berlin.
