Harry Roseman was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1945. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Pratt Institute in 1967 and served as the assistant to Joseph Cornell from 1969-1972 and the assistant to Tony Smith in 1973. He has been a professor of art at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, since 1981. Harry Roseman works in multiple disciplines ranging from sculpture to photography to works on paper. In 2013 Roseman was the recipient of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship. He says that the aim of his work is to “close the distance between thinking, looking and making, to the point where it is hard to tell the difference.” He lives and works in Poughkeepsie, NY.
