With a special sense of composition and color, Hedwig Eberle explores various subjects ranging from landscapes to heads. Again and again the artist indicates figurative motifs, only to dissolve them in a gestural abstraction. Her compositions, which oscillate between classical and contemporary painting, sometimes appear loud and colorful, sometimes quiet and poetic. Eberle first studied at the University of the Arts, Berlin, and finally with Sean Scully at the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich. Matthias Jahn has been working with the artist since 2009; Eberle was awarded the Bavarian Art Promotion Prize in 2014.
