Heike Mutter & Ulrich Genth
German, 1969 and 1971
Since 2003 an artist couple, Heike Mutter and Ulrich Genth, she at the same time Professor at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany, finished their studies in Media Art in Cologne respectively Conceptual Art in Münster in 2001 (1999). Over the years they won grants and awards as singles and as an Artist couple – first prize for their work “Tiger and Turtle – Magic Mountain”, a landmark on the Heinrich-Hildebrand Höhe Duisburg. Above that, both showed their work in several private and institutional collections since 1998 (1999).
Mutter & Genth’s sensitive projects are always a visual reaction to the local contexts they find while intensively researching the geographical, historical and social structures. With participatory elements and artistic-absurd interventions they not only bare these structures, they change them actively. Their recent work “Monument” on the Neumarkt in Dresden, Germany, has just been inaugurated.
