Piano Concerto. 1963. Chalk drawing. Signed and dated in lower right. On wove paper by Hahnemühle (with watermark). 78.5 x 107 cm (30.9 x 42.1 in), size of sheet. [SM]. • The decisive impulse in Heinz Mack's art is the examination of light and movement. • The multitude of vertical and horizontal structural elements creates movement inherent in the image. • "Because I kept having the piano notes in front of my nose - almost only Mozart, Beethoven and above all Bach - at some point I saw that they were structures. All of a sudden I saw these graphic diagrams, which serve as musical notation for the musician, as an abstract drawing." (Mack). PROVENANCE: Galerie Heseler, Munich. Private collection Switzerland (acquired from aforementioned in 1993). Called up: December 11, 2020 - ca. 14.34 h +/- 20 min.

Lichtfächer. 1964. Aluminum net on aluminum panel on wood, mounted in object frame. With scratched signature and date in lower right. Verso once more signed and dated. 102 x 122 cm (40.1 x 48 in). • One of the first light wings from the significant "ZERO" era. • Large-size work in a very good state of preservation. • The work was made the same year that "ZERO" exhibited at Documenta 3 celebrating their international breakthrough. • The aluminum grid as a stabilizing material, especially used in space flight, creates a particularly subtle and variegated play of light. Accompanied by a certificate issued by Heinz Mack, Mönchengladbach, presumably from 1990. PROVENANCE: Private collection Rhineland (directly from the artist). "I believe in angels; in spiritual energy that can't be fathomed in thinking. That's why Leonardo is the most outstanding artist, an engineer who painted angels." Quote after Anette Kuhn, Heinz Mack, in: Kritisches Lexikon der Gegenwartskunst, p. 3. Called up: December 11, 2020 - ca. 18.45 h +/- 20 min.
