Humberto Diaz (b. 1975) lives and works in Havana. He graduated in Sculpture from the University of the Arts of Havana, and has presented more than 30 solo exhibitions and more than 100 group exhibitions in France, Cuba, United States, Mexico, Aruba, Poland, Spain, Switzerland, Latvia, Germany, Italy, Lithuania, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, China, Turkey, Austria, Canada, Portugal, Russia and the UK. The development of Díaz's work has stood out for its versatility; he does not skimp on the use of techniques and means to convey an idea. That is why his art portfolio covers a wide spectrum of manifestations, such as installation, site-specific work, performance, video or photography. The central theme of his work revolves around the "notion of reality" and how sociopolitical, psychological and sensory conditioning affect its perception.
Humberto is known for his site-specific, videos and performances in important national and international events, such as the Havana Biennial, International Biennial of Contemporary Art of St. Petersburg, Russia, Portugal Arte and the Venice Biennale.
