Hüseyin Aksoylu paints fantastic urban landscapes made of ladders, pulleys, wires, towers, bridges, and other unidentifiable technological detritus. These landscapes are often in disarray and filled with rust-colored smoke and skies. Painting entirely with acrylic, Aksoylu meticulously mixes paints to create metallic colors and finishes that heighten the sense of technological abandon. He combines everyday objects with surreal narratives and humor to generate commentary on the extent to which life is governed by the use of machines, using dark humor to imagine an apocalyptic future. More recently, Aksoylu has started experimenting with mixed media and a more gestural style of painting.
