Ida Ekblad
Norwegian, b. 1980
Ida Ekblad counts painting, sculpture, performance, and filmmaking among the aspects of her varied artistic practice. While the artist’s favored materials range from cast concrete and plastic to puff paint and steel, Ekblad unites her work with a pervasive sense of spontaneity: The artist embraces graffiti-esque forms and chance-based processes, and she often incorporates objects she finds in dumpsters, or at demolition sites and scrapyards. Ekblad’s works can evoke intimate scrapbooks of cobbled-together shapes and things. The artist has exhibited in London, New York, Berlin, Oslo, Paris, and beyond. Her work belongs to the collections of Migros Museum of Contemporary Art in Zürich, the Astrup Fearnley Museum in Oslo, and the Zabludowicz Collection.
