Isaque Pinheiro
Portuguese, b. 1974
An artist's biography is something that is developed over time and can manifest itself parallel to his work, a right and a poetic freedom. In the case of Isaque Pinheiro, born in 1972 in Lisbon, we can reinforce the idea of the biography, as something designed and constructed. A continuous chain of experiences and affects, between the reality of his day to day life, his doubts and his fascinations. From his artistic practice and his work, we can see that he is an artist who explores different means, revealing a continuous restlessness where classical and contemporary issues related to the artist's studio practice intersect with an intense critical reflection on what he is presenting to us, assisted by a technical mastery, uncommon nowadays.
His work is included in several art collections which we can highlight: PLMJ Foundation (Lisbon, Portugal), EDP Foundation/ MAAT (Lisbon, Portugal), Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Museum (Amarante, Portugal), MG Collection (Alvito, Portugal), Biennial Museum of Cerveira (Portugal), Galician Centre of Contemporary Art (Santiago de Compostela, Spain), Caixanova Foundation (Spain), Municipal Art Collection of Contemporary Art (Porto, Portugal) and Edson Queiroz Foundation (Fortaleza, Brazil).
