Jacinthe Lessard-L.
Canadian, born 1978

Video, photo, and installation artist Jacinthe Lessard-L. is known for representing objects in a way that accentuates their inherent abstractness, as in Untitled (2009), where she photographs a stack of tiles from the side before a black background to produce a flat and colorful pattern removed from its component parts. Similar themes are addressed in her sculptural installations, where she aggregates objects in a way that emphasizes their physical properties—color, texture, form—rather than utilitarian function, the result both a formal exercise and humorous interrogation of the everyday.
