Jeff Burton

Drawing from his experience as a photographer on adult film sets, Jeff Burton shoots scenes of gay sex from the obliquely suggestive to the pornographic with a surprising nonchalance. The intimacy in Burton’s photographs is seldom captured without some form of mediation, whether a distorting reflection or an artful angle. The eroticism of his shots, always tempered by an air of detachment. is concentrated into a facial expression or, as in the case of Untitled #204 (Footboard) (2008), an arm clinging to a bed.
