Jeff Chien-Hsing Liao takes large-format color photographs of New York City. His practice frequently involves the use of composites, incorporating multiple exposures into grand, panoramic images that capture entire scenes with luminous detail. His best-known series is “Habitat 7” (2005), for which photographed the diverse ethnic communities that have grown around the 7 train in Queens, New York. He has also created series depicting the iconic landmarks of the city, from Grand Central Station to Coney Island, and the construction and subsequent use of the Citi Field ballpark.
