Jill Mulleady
Argentine, b. 1980
Jill Mulleady is a Uruguayan-born, Los Angeles-based artist known for her psychologically charged paintings that blend surrealism, figuration, and narrative elements. Her work often features dreamlike scenes in which figures are depicted in moments of tension or introspection, exploring themes of desire, power, and the human condition. Mulleady's paintings are characterized by their impressionistic rendering, usual color palettes, and an underlying sense of unease that invites viewers to engage with the deeper layers of meaning within her compositions. She received her MFA at the Chelsea College of Arts in London and has exhibited internationally, with solo exhibitions at the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, Freedman Fitzpatrick in Los Angeles, and Cahiers D'Art, Paris, France. Her work is included in the collections of major museums, including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, The Hirshhorn Museum, Washington D.C., Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris, and the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Miami.
