Jimmy De Clercq
Belgian, b. 1970
Born in 1970, Jimmy De Clercq began working in a bronze foundry at the age of 23. He immediately fell in love with the craft of bronze casting and became co-owner of the art foundry "De Clercq - Ginsberg" after a few years. 30 years later he is still following his passion.
Recently, the artist decided to start making his own sculptures. Inspired by his youth and his fascination with astronauts and space, he created the Astroman collection.
"All sculptures evolve around astronauts and space. I depict male astronauts, female astronauts and even space dogs in recognisable, everyday situations. Inspiration is taken from (famous) pictures, paintings, movies and songs. Every bronze sculpture tells a new, unique, vivid story."
