Jinseung Jang centers his work on the possibility of mutual understanding that can overcome the prejudices and discrimination inherent to human nature. The artist analyzes these problematic attitudes from a phenomenological perspective as they manifest in social relationships, focusing on exploring solutions or resolutions within the realm of art. This task at times involves attempting to build a certain system that synchronizes intangible data with tangible senses. It might also manifest as narratives of the near future, conceived while anticipating a certain pivotal moment. Alternatively, it can be achieved by revealing a technology or device—or even its inner workings—that penetrates the past, present, and future. In pursuit of these goals, Jang illuminates the perceptual and cognitive structures of the humans who will inhabit the near future, employing a diverse range of techniques, which include digital and analog data visualization, audio-visual archive systems, and aesthetic experience constructed with mixed media.
