Jordan Tinker
American, born 1968

Jordan Tinker transforms pop culture and the everyday into abstract painted sculptures, photography, collage, and installations. His paintings merge Color Field Painting’s concern with the interaction of flat color planes with the superficial colorations and iconography of Pop art. He is best known for “Gas” (2001), a series of mixed-media photographic works that explored the intersection between natural resources and the popular iconography of the road trip, from gas stations signs to indistinct landscapes.
