Biography

Using his mother’s name as an alias to keep his identity anonymous, Judith Supine has become renowned in the street art scene for his wheatpastes and large-scale public interventions in New York City. In 2007 he hung a 50-foot figure off the side of the Manhattan Bridge; in 2009 he hung one at the highest point of the Williamsburg Bridge. In recent years Supine has focused his practice on surreal collages that depict monstrous hybrid figures, suggesting the grotesque aspects of advertising imagery. Supine assembles his works with image fragments torn from old books and fashion and porn magazines, manipulated, washed in fluorescent color, and coated in high-gloss resin.
