Notable Works
Justin Brice Guariglia first taught himself how to use a camera as a photojournalist in the 1990’s, and has since become known for pushing artistic boundaries to address our current ecological crisis. The New York Times has called Guariglia an “alarm-ringer” for the social message he carries in his photographic, sculptural, and installation works. He frequently partners with artists, researchers, scientists, and philosophers to enable a greater understanding of our environmental challenges. WE ARE THE ASTEROID, Guariglia’s installation of solar-powered message boards — each flashing with aphorisms by philosopher Timothy Morton — debuted at Storm King Art Center, and garnered international attention for how it brought ecological issues to the public. Sotheby’s has called him “one of the most prominent cultural figures working to address climate change.”
