Justin Guariglia taught himself how to use a camera while travelling abroad, and has since become known for his international photojournalism and travel photography. Guariglia, who has also been a photographer and contributing editor for National Geographic Traveler since 1999, is known best for his landscapes, aerial photographs, and portraits in large formats. He has photographed over 50 countries, and was the first to be allowed to photograph the famously reclusive monks of the Shaolin Temple. Guariglia’s journalistic style is actually inspired by the writings of André Breton and Charles Baudelaire; he is also influenced by street photography, which to him represents “the chance, fleeting moment that one could capture with the camera in hand.”
