Karim Rashid is perhaps most famous for his prolificacy as a designer: he has to date over 3,000 designs to his name, spanning furniture, lighting, technology, and product packaging. Rashid’s artwork resembles his design sensibility, which can be characterized by amorphous shapes, hard lines, high-gloss finishes, and bright pastel colors. Pink pervades in Rashid’s work: “Pink is my super-optimistic white. It is energetic, fulgent, engaging, and an antidote to the masculine world that dominates our built landscape.” His works are often hybrids of painting, sculpture, printmaking, and digital media. As with every project Rashid undertakes, his artworks hope to convey optimism and humor.
