Leonardo Pineda’s bold paintings of urban landscapes incorporate a variety of artistic styles, including expressionism, cubism, surrealism, and abstraction. Pineda captures the contemporary life of Bogotá in a style he calls “Por Fuera,” which translates as “from outside or abroad.” His work celebrates the vibrancy of the city environment as well as capturing the claustrophobia that comes with living in an urban setting. Pineda expresses both the chaos and excitement of cities in an attempt to create order out of the sensory overload one might feel while moving through these surroundings.
