American Photorealist Linda Bacon is known for her larger-than-life still lifes that encourage the viewer to reflect on symbolic and familiar items. Whether sourced from her own collection (childhood relics in addition to finds from garage sales, junk shops, and occasionally eBay) or items borrowed from friends, Bacon chooses objects based on the integrity of their shape, size, color, design, and ability to arouse reflection in the viewer. Born in Hillsboro, Texas, Bacon studied English, history, and philosophy at the University of Texas in Austin before moving to San Francisco and ultimately settling in the countryside of Marin County.
