Lynne Woods Turner is a painter and draughtswoman whose works are studies of geometry, repeating patterns, bilateral symmetry, and color. Before 2007, Turner’s compositions featured an all-over approach and more complex forms, but she has recently reduced her images to lines and planes of color. She is also known to paint and draw on both sides of a sheet of translucent paper with pencil and gouache in order to soften the edges of her forms. Though her works appear to have a meticulous, almost mechanical geometry, her forms are all drawn freehand. Turner enjoys working with delicate and demanding materials, and the exertion of control in executing the accumulation of lines and forms.
