Following his degree in English at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, Rees Roberts went on to study Film Theory at the Slade School of Fine Art, where he wrote his thesis on German Expressionist Cinema. He then completed a second post-graduate course in Printmaking at the Slade. He moved to Scotland in 1980 to lecture at Edinburgh College of Art and in 1989 was appointed Lecturer in charge of Printmaking, a post he held until 1995, when he returned to live and work in London. He was also a visiting tutor on the Visual Arts postgraduate course at West Dean College. He is a painter and master printmaker in all mediums, very often in combination. He also makes artist's books and short films.
