Martina Geist

Martina Geist studied at the State Academy of Fine Arts and the University of Stuttgart as well as at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. Since that time she has focused on the medium of drawing and woodcuts. The wooden panels, of which there is usually only one print, claim their independence as colored reliefs. In 2016, Martina Geist designed the 20th artist flag festival in Eppingen. Since then she has also been dealing with textile materials.
Her artistic work has been recognized by numerous prizes and grants. In 1987 Martina Geist received a scholarship from the DAAD for Vienna, in 1992 a scholarship from the Kunststiftung Baden-Württemberg and in 1995 a scholarship for the Cité Internationale des Arts Paris. In 1989 she received first prize in the "Linocut Today" competition held by the city of Bietigheim-Bissingen. Martina Geist has recently worked at the Kartause Ittingen Foundation, the Bartels Foundation, Basel and the Casa Zia Lina, Elba, among others.
