Biography

“There is no perfect chair,” says the Italian-born, London-based designer Martino Gamper, perhaps best known for his 100 Chairs in 100 Days project in which he, fittingly, crafted and constructed 100 chairs in just 100 days’ time. The processes of making, producing, and assembling are the cornerstones of the designer’s work, which runs the gamut from exhibition and interior design to custom and mass-produced furniture. Interested in the social aspect of furniture design, Gamper uses reclaimed or recycled materials and used pieces of furniture to create new work reflective of this process.
