Mary Jo O'Gara’s subjects include still life compositions, barns, and wide-open landscapes inspired by her Midwest surroundings. She paints alla prima, completing her paintings in one session, capturing the light and harmonious color of her initial perceptions. Her paintings are intentionally uncomplicated, yet full of rich texture and brushwork. Mary Jo received her BA from Marquette University. She is currently on the faculty of the North Shore Art League in Winnetka, IL where she teaches oil and gouache painting.
