Matías Ercole
Argentine, b. 1987
Matías Ercole (Buenos Aires, 1987) is an academically trained visual artist from the Instituto Universitario Nacional del Arte, where he graduated in visual arts. During his training, he participated in numerous workshops held by artists such as Pablo Siquier, Ernesto Ballesteros and Claudio Caldini.
In 2014, he was selected as a fellow in the programme of the Centro de Investigación Artísticas (CIA) of the START Foundation and held production and artistic research residencies in Barcelona (HANGAR), Uruguay (EAC) and Turin.
His numerous prizes and awards include the New Talent Prize Drawing Room Lisboa (Portugal) in 2019, the Premio Adquisición Dibujo del Salón Nacional (Buenos Aires) in 2017 and the Mención Honorífica del Fondo Nacional de las Artes.
Ercole's works are part of numerous public and private collections, including those of the Museo de Arte Moderno de Mendoza, the Museo de Bellas Artes de Tandil, the Palais de Glace, the Franklin Rawson Museum in San Juan and the Colección Balanz.
Ercole has exhibited both individually and collectively in art spaces and institutions in Argentina and elsewhere. Noteworthy are: Monumento (Galería Jorge López; 2022), Futurismos (Casa Argentina; 2021), Re,visión (Munar; 2019), Y quiero agradecer / una vez más a dios / que hizo / como todos sabemos / todo / y que hizo / como todos sabemos / nada. (Galería Miranda Bosch; 2016) and Te creo, te destruyo (Centro Cultural Recoleta; 2016).
He currently works between Buenos Aires and Rome.
